The main emphasis of this game is on what kind of bets are placed since this game is easy to understand and operate.
The major categories of bets in Roulette are inside bets and outside bets. Inside bets and outside bets are the terms used for location on the small wheel.
Selection of number or range of numbers on the slot where the ball will land, these are called inside bets. While bets in outside bets include bets on grouping of slots, slot colors, bet on even or odd numbers.
The several types of inside bets are the following:
- Straight bet – When the player bets on the single number. Chip or chips are placed directly on the number.
- Split bet – When the player bets on the two adjoining numbers, chips are placed on the line separating the two numbers.
- Street bet – Bet on three numbers, the numbers are horizontal along the line. Chips are placed on the edge of line according to the table layout.
- Corner bet – Player bet on four numbers, this is also called as square bet.
- Sixline bet – Bet on six numbers, on two adjoining street, also known as sixaine. Chips are placed at the corresponding intersection.
Outside Bets are the following:
- Even money Bets – Players bet on almost half the possible numbers available that is on total 18 numbers. Various options available on the table for the bet are black, red, low, high, even or odd.
- Group Bets – Players bet on group of 12 numbers, it may be first dozen or middle dozen or another group of third numbers.
- Column bet – Players bet on 12 numbers located on one of the vertical line out of three.
Additional terms for different grouping of numbers are –
- Neighbors of zero – Numbers which lie between 22 and 25, includes 22 and 25 themselves also.
- The Third – the numbers which lies on the opposite sides of the wheel that is the numbers between 27 and 33, including 27 and 33 as well.
- Orphans – The numbers that are outside both Neighbors and The Third, a total of eight numbers.
